Is bura (north wind) or jugo (southeast wind) more inspiring for artists, is there historical evidence to claim that the Dubrovnik Republic was not deliberated or judged by the šilok (south/southeast wind), the richness of the terminology in the Adriatic rose of the winds? Those are some of the topics the documentary TV series “Windy” deals with.
The story of the Adriatic winds mirrors a wide area of human activity from traditional and contemporary professions, through folk beliefs and artistic meaning reinterpretations to modern use in science and industry, but also in free time and leisure, which is best manifested in wind-related sports.
